Wildlife Keepstones are perfect for hunters, sportsmen, outdoor people.
Family Keepstones for all occasions, weddings, anniverseries, graduations etc..
Very Affordable: Our goal is to make high quality beautiful gravestones and plaques at a price that most people can afford.
We can work within any budget starting at $200 for small plaques and small gravestones starting at $500.
Beautiful Granite: We use only pure black granite - the most beautiful and durable granite for etching photos.
Your photos will last for centuries because the are etched into the granite.
Best Technology: We use only the best technology in the world for creating our gravestones.
Sandblasting for text and diamond etching for photos. Our technology is much better than laser engraving which only burns the surface gloss away on granite, laser engraved will
degrade in the sun and rain much sooner than diamond etching.
Friendly People: You will always have a friendly and caring person to talk to when choosing your gravestone.
From first contact and on through the design process and eventually the pickup and installation you will be treated with respect and dignity and when appropriate humour.
Humour can often be an essential part of the healing process.
Fast Service: Normally we can complete gravestones in two - four weeks but if necessary we can make a flat or pillow in two days and an
upright in four days.
We acknowledge North Country Gravestones is located on Treaty Land. In Canada, we are all Treaty People but more importantly,
beyond the treaties, we are all ONE PEOPLE, ONE SPIRIT.
Why North Country uses both Diamond Impact Engraving and Laser Engraving for photos in granite and why both have advantages in different situations
Technique & Process: Diamond Impact Engraving uses a CNC machine with a diamond-tipped tool that physically strikes the stone, creating deep, precise, and bright V-shaped cuts. This method is especially effective on colored granites and produces a tactile, high-contrast result. Laser Engraving uses a high-powered CO2 laser to burn away the polished surface of the stone, removing only a thin layer. It is computer-controlled and ideal for photorealistic images, fine details, and intricate designs.
Appearance & Detail: Impact Engraving creates deep, sparkling, and highly visible engravings that mimic traditional hand carving. It provides excellent contrast and depth, especially on black granite, and is ideal for portraits and detailed artwork. Laser Engraving produces high-resolution, detailed images with grayscale effects, best suited for lifelike portraits and complex patterns. However, it results in shallow, flat marks that may appear pale over time, especially when exposed to UV light.
Durability & Longevity: Impact Engraving is more durable and long-lasting, as the deep cuts resist weathering and fading. It does not require paint and remains visible for generations. Laser Engraving is less durable outdoors, as the surface layer can fade over time. Many providers apply white paint to enhance contrast, but this paint deteriorates under sunlight and typically doesn’t last long in cemetery conditions.
In Summary: Diamond Impact Engraving offers superior durability, depth, and long-term visibility without the need for paint, making it ideal for lasting tributes. Laser Engraving is better for intricate, photo-realistic designs but requires maintenance and fades over time.
